David Backer, MBA

Commercialization Advisor

David Backer is a veteran biotechnology executive and industry leader in gene therapy manufacturing with over 25 years of experience. He currently serves as the Founder of DB Biologics and is a Strategic Advisor for the Rett Syndrome Research Trust (RSRT), where he provides critical Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) guidance to accelerate genetic medicines into clinical trials. Throughout his career, David has held senior leadership roles at Oxford Biomedica, ElevateBio, and MilliporeSigma and owned one of the first commercial viral vector CDMOs. He holds a BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
